Strong Winds in Texas

Texas blows past wind generation records.

Federal officials report that wind generation soared to 12,238 megawatts in Texas on October 22, setting an all-time peak.

New wind capacity, strong winds and unseasonably warm weather set the stage for blowing past old records, reports the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

At peak, wind generation units in the ERCOT region, Texas, were at 75-81 percent capacity factor.
