Utilities Say Bring on Carbon Cuts

Most utilities fully accept the Obama administration's war on coal generation, an epochal change in how we will get our electricity.

Most utilities fully accept the Obama administration's war on coal generation, an epochal change in how we will get our electricity, The Wall Street Journal reported.

“From Dominion Resources Inc. in Virginia to Dynegy Inc. in Houston to Ohio’s FirstEnergy Corp., electricity producers say they plan to comply rather than contest the regulation,” the newspaper reported.

That is because natural gas is cheap and abundant and renewable energy costs are tumbling rapidly.

Federal government statistics show that coal use by electric utilities has declined to a 25-year low.
