Japan Looks to Microwave Transmission

Japanese researchers for years have been working on technology to generate power with space-bases solar units.

Japan's space agency is testing new technology to transmit electric power wirelessly via microwaves and lasers.

"This is the first experiment in the world to send out high-output, controlled microwave beams with a view to applying them in space," a Japanese space official said.
