Energy Management Gains Key to Climate Fix

One-third of greenhouse gas emissions come from buildings.

Dealing with climate change will require a major effort to help developing nations deploy advanced energy efficiency technology, says author Naomi Klein.

Lighting, heating and cooling buildings creates one-third of climate-changing greenhouse gases.

Building stock in Asia Pacific will jump 47 percent by 2021, she writes in her new book, "This Changes Everything."

"...there is nothing more important than helping ensure that new structures in Asia are built to the highest standards of efficiency," she writes. "Otherwise, we are all - the North, South, East and West - in for catastrophic emissions growth."
