Utilities and the government have embraced a robust response to the threat posed to the grid by a possible cyberterrorist attack.
"The electric sector is resilient and built with redundancies following a multi-layered risk management approach to grid protection,” Caitlin A. Durkovich, U.S. Department of Homeland Security assistant secretary, Office of Infrastructure Protection, said in a prepared statement made available to The Energy Times.
“Thousands of utilities work together with the government to run one of the most reliable power grids in the world," Durkovich said.
Durkovich will be part of a panel of government and utility leaders in a major industry webcast, The Grid Cyberthreat - Are We Prepared? - at 2 pm ET on February 3.
