Standout Utility Exec

Diverse leadership powering electric sector transformation

Mary Powell, Green Mountain Power president and chief executive officer, has been honored as one of the nation’s top female executives.

She was singled out as among the top 25 female leaders of mid-market companies with annual sales of between $100 million and $3 billion. The award was made by CEO Connection, a network of mid-market executives.

Powell, contacted by The Energy Times, said,” In a sector in the midst of major transformation, diversity of opinions and styles is essential to delivering innovation and superior service for customers. “

For decades the utility sector, perhaps more than most industries, has been led by male executives. That has been changing in recent years at such major utilities as Duke Energy, ComEd and PNM Resources.

Powell, along with Anne Pramaggiore, ComEd president and CEO and Cindy Crane, Rocky Mountain Power president and CEO, lead a panel of utility chief executives kicking off the Empowering Customers & Cities conference in Chicago November 1-2.
