The North American Electric Reliability Corp. recently signed an MOU with Mexico's Energy Regulatory Commission to further cooperation in reliability. The memorandum recognizes the established and growing interconnections between the United States and Mexico.
Janet Sena, senior VP and director of policy and external affairs at the North American Electric Reliability Corp., represented NERC at the event, expanding a bit on the MOU and NERC's purpose.
"It was really the 2003 Northeast blackout that changed NERC’s world," she said. "You have to look at the value of reliability from an international market perspective.
"We have a great relationship with the States, and we have an important relationship with Canada and Mexico," she said. "We all care about reliability, it’s not a partisan issue."
