Regulation Update Needed, Says N.J.Utility Exec

With energy sales flat and the public demanding increased power resiliency, decades-old utility policy regulation must be updated, according to a New Jersey utility executive.

“There is an incredible dependency on electricity,” Ralph Izzo, PSEG chairman and chief executive officer, told a recent Energy Times Executive Briefing in Washington.

“That leads to an expectation of a level of reliability that we now call resiliency,” he said. “The lynch-pin in bringing that about is going to be a fundamental shift in the way in which utilities are regulated.”
